Philippians 4:4–9 “Rejoicing Through Anxiety: Turning fear into gratitude”
Main Point: Peace comes through gratitude, prayer, and enjoying God’s goodness—leading to a life of rejoicing in the Lord.
I. Rejoicing in the Lord builds relationships (vv. 4–5).
Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 97:1, “Rejoice, the Lord is king.” Psalm 100:1, “make a joyful noise to the Lord.” Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
II. Grateful prayer heals the heart and mind (vv. 6–7).
1 John 5:14–15, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”
III. Proper focus brings peace (vv. 8–9).
