Psalm 11 “Our God who sees”
Main Point: The enemy tries to intimidate, but God sees and brings justice.
I. The wicked target God’s people (vv. 1–3).
Mark 13:13, “13 And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” John 17:14–15; Jeremiah 29:11
II. God saves through judgment (vv. 4–7).
Genesis 19:24; Revelation 20:10, “10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 21:8, “8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Hebrews 9:24–28, “24 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. 25 Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, 26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
