John 4:43–54 “Fan or Follower?”

Main Point: Christ sovereignly gives us grace when we receive Him on His terms.

I. Saving faith motivates self-giving, not self-serving (vv. 43–45).

John 2:23–25, “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.” Matthew 4:3; 5–6; 27:39–43

II. Christ requires a belief that goes beyond superficial to supernatural (vv. 46–54).

Exodus 7:3, “But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, 4 Pharaoh will not listen to you.” Mark 7:27–29
